Earthquakes are base along the Pacific Rim, Indian Ocean, Middle East, Caribbean and even Along the Eastern Seaboard. Indeed, you may not know this but there is a huge Earthquake fault running along the Mississippi River, which has rendered total destruction before the turn of the 1900s. Mexico City resides in a highly active tectonic area. North America, no matter where you live is not immune from the shifting Earth. So, why do we as Americans make our homes out of such rigid and fragile material like concrete?
The answer until now was that it was the best we had, or so we thought, as now there is a thing called flexible concrete, which is just as solid but it also gives a little. Having grown up near the Northridge Fault in Southern California, I saw the damage that Earthquakes did to foundations, even lived in a home with a cracked foundation, well, truly make that two homes with such issues. Flexible concrete especially makes sense for those who are construction homes in California, where the chances of an Earthquake are about 100%.

Still, even if you do not live in an Earthquake zone, you must understand that the Earth's surface is permanently shifting due to ground water movement and settling. Flexible concrete gives a diminutive but is strong enough to survive the tough wear and tear over the years. How much does flexible concrete cost? Well if you live near a place that industry it, not much more. If you have to have the ingredients to make the proper mixture and pay an inspector to help you get it right, yes it could run you a bit. But just think, you pour once and it lasts through just about anything. Think on this.
